I loved bestselling author Gabrielle Zevin’s latest book Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. It’s a story about a deep friendship spanning thirty years. This is a character-driven book where the main characters Sadie and Sam are creative partners in the world of video game design. They experience success, fame, joy, tragedy and duplicity. Their games mirror life – the struggles, crises and triumphs that are part of being human. The novel is exhilarating, full of heart, and emphasises the importance of play.  The novel takes place across the US, from Boston to LA. One day Sam questions Sadie as to why they didn’t get together.. She replies: “Lovers are… common… Because I loved working with you better than I liked the idea of making love to you. Because true collaborators in this life are rare.”

The Daughters of Nandi by Nokuthula Mazibuko Msimang traces 3 generations of women. Even though I knew each woman’s story was coming to an end, I didn’t want it to. But then I was super excited and riveted to get into the next woman’s story. Read it in one day!
