26 Ghosts

‘Ghost stories’, Roald Dahl said, ‘are damnably difficult to write.’

It’s true. There’s a special art to making the spine tingle, the flesh crawl. That’s why we challenged 13 fearless writers to create a ghost story in time for Halloween. And, in an added twist, each new story had to be inspired by an old ghostly tale – supposedly true – shared by another member of the group.

Once the stories were done, each writer asked a visual artist to bring their dark visions to life. Starting on 18 October, we’ll publish each story and its artwork in the 13 days leading up to Halloween.

So – let’s begin. Don’t be afraid. From 13 writers and 13 artists, we bring you 26 Ghosts
