26 Children’s Winters is the 2015/16 incarnation of our biannual 26 Stories of Christmas project and this year we’ve teamed up with the Museum of Childhood, Edinburgh and local children’s charity, It’s Good 2 Give. All winter the museum is running an exhibition of 26 treasures that bring alive children’s winters over history. Whether it’s a white feather muff or a set of 1960s board games – 26’s writers have done a brilliant job in capturing the essence of winter in 62 words – the sestude, our signature form.
As well as the exhibition our writers have written blog pieces about the experience which will be posted over December here: 26project.org.uk/26childrenswinters
The object and sestudes will appear daily over December in our very own online advent calendar here: http://26storiesofchristmas.com/ We’d love you to share it.
As well as celebrating the winter season we’re also raising money for It’s Good 2 Give who have teamed up with the museum to create Christmas cards. You can find out more about their work here: http://www.itsgood2give.co.uk/ and buy cards and donate.
Our exhibition is now live online on the Capital Collections website.
Many thanks to my colleague Nico Tyack for making it happen.
