Every month, we’ll be offering practical advice on how to do things, from negotiating to growing your business to keeping clients happy and more. Here, Sarah McCartney on three ways to fill up with ideas
During my 14 years writing the Lush Times, I wrote about some products 56 times (four times a year x 14 years). I had to find ways to keep my idea tanks topped up. Here are three of them.
1 Learn as much as you can about your subject.
Google it. When you’ve got more time, read more widely.
2 Write things on blank paper.
Ideas don’t form in straight lines.
3 Do something different.
Collect experiences from outside your own territory. As my dad said, “If you can’t decide whether to stay in or go out, go out.”
