foundlingCT26 and The Foundling Museum

The good news announced at Wordstock is that we have another collaborative project coming up, this time with The Foundling Museum in London. The museum is home to an important collection of art, artefacts and records belonging to the Foundling Hospital from its formation in 1739 to its closure more than two hundred years later. It includes the stories of 25,000 abandoned children who were taken into the hospital’s care. More details will be revealed shortly, but please email John Simmons or Sue Evans before 31 October if you would like to take part. Names will be drawn from the legendary 26 hat. For those of you who came forward at Wordstock, you have priority but we need you to confirm.

Find out more about The Foundling Museum by visiting the museum’s website or, even better, by going there in person. It’s a must-see for a half term excursion in London.

You are invited to the UK Speechwriters Guild Business Communicator of the Year Award 2014

The UK Speechwriters’ Guild supports the professional development of speechwriters by organising conferences and training. We also run an annual prize for the ‘Business Communicator of the Year’.

The award will be presented to pensions’ guru, Steve Bee, at our annual reception at St Matthew’s Conference Centre at 20 Great Peter Street, London, SW1P 2BU on Thursday 20 November between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.

Steve Bee has a remarkable ability to speak about pensions in a humorous and compelling way.

Over wine and nibbles, you’ll be able to circulate with others who share the unusual expertise of putting words into someone else’s mouth and hear how Steve demystifies the complex world of pensions.

Tickets are £28.50. You can purchase tickets by credit card here.

Members of 26 can get a £10 discount by using the promotion code ‘26’.

Dementia Project

Writing a story based on a chat with a lady in the first stages of dementia. Not a story about regrets, but a wish for the future. Nine writers involved; we’re turning the stories into an illustrated book, we’ll perform them for participants, relatives and care workers. Amazing lives uncovered.
