Emerging writers, it’s time to blow your own trumpet – parp!
The 26 Emerging Writer award, supported by Quietroom, is for someone who began commercial writing in the last five years. Your work is brilliant. You can be young, a newbie or a mid-career switcher. There’s no age limit. And you don’t have to be a 26er.
You can recommend yourself or someone else. It’s free. It’s easy. And you could pick up a beautifully designed winners trophy or runners-up certificate by master typographer, Dr Phil Cleaver.
“Thinking of entering? Great! It’s a fun way to explore what you and other emerging writers are achieving. Thinking of entering someone else? Lovely! It’s a meaningful way to show someone you think they’ve got it.”
– Alex Mawson-Harris, Highly Commended, 2021
Sophie Gordon, our editor, adds, “For me, winning a commendation from 26 was a much-needed confidence boost at just the right time.” So, whether you’re putting yourself forward, or nominating someone else “just dive in and go for it.”
Luckily there are no long forms to fill in, and entry doesn’t cost a penny. To enter yourself, or someone else, all you need to do is send examples of the work and a paragraph explaining why you’d like to be considered or nominate someone to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline for entries is Friday 17 June, we’d love to see your work. We’ll run the awards ceremony online in early/mid July.
26 Project Writer award
We’ll also be running the 26 Project Writer Award again this year. We’ll update you on that in the May newsletter.
