Some very human, kind words…
Last week saw the launch of the 2024 Bloomsbury Festival programme at Westminster Kingsway College in (where else?) Bloomsbury. It’s an exciting programme of artistic events spread across the ten days of the festival, 18th-27th October. This year’s festival theme is “Human.Kind”. 26 will be playing a big part with contributions inspired by that theme. In the programme you’ll see the exhibition for 26 Connections with Barbican Young Poets and the Lettering Arts Trust. At the heart of the exhibition will be collaborative poetry created by pairs of 26 and BYP writers, led by long-time friend of 26 and award-winning poet Jacob Sam-La Rose. Those at last year’s Wordstock will remember Jacob’s brilliant performance.

No need to book for the exhibition, just turn up during the days, but for this year’s 26 Wordstock you will need to get tickets (they could go fast). If you’ve been before you’ll know you can expect fun and inspiration with words. If you haven’t been, don’t miss out, get a ticket here.
Also don’t miss these 26-related events in the programme:
- The launch of John Simmons’ poem Berliners that was shortlisted for Live Canon pamphlet of the year. You can fit that in nicely before Wordstock – 1 o’clock for an hour in the Conway Hall library on Saturday 19th October – tickets here.
- An event arranged by 26 Board member Irene Lofthouse on those giants of 20th century literature, George Orwell and JB Priestley – 3 o’clock on Sunday 20th October, also in the Conway Hall library. Tickets here.
