Last year a friend asked me to help create a play. I’ve always found dialogue tricky but I said I’d love to. So in February, 60 of us told my story of a fictional village in WWI. It was fabulous: we sold out three shows; the audience wept and laughed; and I learnt writing a play is a joyful experience – fabulously constrained, and wonderfully liberating.
