Members’ news: April 2024

I’m taking The Writer’s Walk to Wellness in the Wild festival in Suffolk this summer. I’ll be running 2 walking and writing workshops to show people how to use their everyday walks to notice the world, spark ideas and fuel their creativity. The festival runs from 14 to 16 June and it’d be lovely to catch up with any 26ers who are going to be there.

In April, I’ve been working on my Edinburgh Fringe show, Liz Truss-themed interactive show and my news-themed comedy night!

Here are links to come along in May, if 26’ers are in or around London and Cambridge:

On 21st April, at the Brontë Birthplace, Irene Lofthouse inhabited Nancy de Garrs, telling tales of her favourite family to mark Charlotte’s birthday.

The Brontë birthplace in Thornton, Bradford, where Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë were born in front of the parlour fireplace, is now saved and officially in public ownership for the first time in its 200 year history.

Nancy links the four children born there from cradle to grave; starting with them age 12/13 as nursemaid, becoming cook and assistant housekeeper age 16 before moving with them to Haworth.

Look out for the house when it re-opens, fully refurbished, from 2025, for schools, visitors, and events.
