Event Announcement: Walk 26 bridges to fight skin cancer

Long-time 26 member, writer Stuart Delves, is now working with skincare company ARgENTUM and he’s brought this fantastic initiative to our attention. Called ‘The Great London Bridges Walk’, people are invited to walk across 26 bridges in London (31 miles in total) in a great cause. The walk will happen on 21st July.

The cause

“From Hampton Court to Tower Bridge, we aim to raise £110,000 to support the role of a clinical nurse specialist for two years to care for patients who are being treated for skin cancer at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH).

A clinical nurse specialist plays a key role in offering support and guidance during the often stressful and uncertain waiting period for patients, their families, and caregivers bridging the gap between diagnosis and treatment with compassion and empathy.”

You can read all about it here www.thegreatlondonbridgeswalk.com

And please give, if you can, to help in the fight against cancer in support of the NHS. In doing so you’ll also be signalling that you would be interested in a follow-on 26 project that we’re currently talking to Stuart about. Less physically challenging but challenging in a creative way. Our aim is to allocate a bridge from these 26 bridges for writers to research and write about. What would be your choice? London, Waterloo, Tower, Blackfriars….All these London bridges have extraordinary histories, there’s so much to discover and write about.

So please take a look at the Great London Bridges website, donate and leave a message, and let us know if you’d be interested in the 26 Bridges project that we’ll tell you more about after the walk on 21st July.
