Paula Rego: Visions of English Literature
Newlands House Gallery has just opened Paula Rego: Visions of English Literature, running through to September. Incorporating literature – it seemed interesting for any 26ers nearby!
This major exhibition explores how one of the most important figurative artists of the 20th and 21st centuries drew inspiration from English literature, folklore and storytelling to create powerful, emotionally charged works that blur the lines between fantasy, memory and reality.
Featuring Rego’s celebrated Jane Eyre, Nursery Rhymes and Peter Pan series, the exhibition offers a rare insight into her imaginative world through prints, unseen preparatory sketches, etching plates and personal objects, including her childhood copy of Peter Pan. Together, these works reveal Rego’s extraordinary ability to transform familiar stories into bold, rebellious and deeply personal visual narratives.

Pam Montgomery: Co-Creating with Nature
A book recommendation for you not least given the time of year – Co-Creating with Nature: Healing the Wound of Separation by Pam Montgomery (Interview with Pam Montgomery – The School of Evolutionary Herbalism).
The book offers six principles of co-creative partnership with Nature that serve as a map for guiding us back to our rightful place as a part of Nature. A lovely, thought provoking read!
