About me

Mark Noad Design is an independent design consultancy, offering an intelligent approach to each client’s objectives and delivering appropriate solutions, beautifully executed – the right idea.
To me, good design and good writing go hand in hand – they are a team. The best solutions come from a synthesis of word and image. As for what design brings to the party, I don’t think I can put it better than this passage by Paul Rand:

“To design is much more than simply to assemble, to order, or even to edit; it is to add value and meaning, to illuminate, to simplify, to clarify, to modify, to dignify, to dramatise, to persuade and perhaps even to amuse.
Design broadens perception, magnifies experience and enhances vision. It is the product of feeling and awareness, of ideas that originate in the mind of the designer and culminate, one hopes, in the mind of the spectator.
Design is both a verb and a noun. It is the beginning as well as the end, the process and product of imagination.”

When I’m not designing, I’m the current Chairman of Letter Exchange: www.letterexchange.org
Our collaboration with 26 produced the fabulous 26 Words exhibition (26projects.org.uk/26words) where I had the opportunity to work with 26 member Neil Baker, below is the result of our collaboration:
