I’m a proofreader for design and marketing agencies, arts organisations and publishers. I check annual reports, brand guidelines, non-fiction books, websites, literature systems, packaging, and presentation documents.
I began my career as a graphic designer and I understand the world of design, the deadlines and the need to communicate ideas clearly. The whole time that I worked as a designer I was also secretly a proofreader. I’ve always been fanatical about attention to detail, and am one of those people who naturally spots mistakes and loves to find better ways to express thoughts and ideas.
I love the attention to detail, the checking and double-checking, and making sure that details are consistent. I like working with designers and creative artworkers because we have complementary skills. And although I’m not working as a designer any more, I still enjoy being in that environment, wearing a different hat.
I’m now working full-time as a proofreader on lovely jobs for, amongst others, The Shanghai Press, Eighth Day Design, The Maker’s Atelier, Sisters For Change and a large London primary school.
Specialities: proofreading, content and artwork checking, organising large amounts of complex information.
