Steven has worked in the design industry since the late 90s. He was an archivist (1998-2001) and then Communications Manager (2001-05) at leading international design consultancy Pentagram, with responsibilities encompassing press and publicity, in-house copywriting and the day-to-day management of The Gallery at Pentagram. He left Pentagram to pursue a career as a freelance writer and has since worked with some of the UK’s leading design agencies, creating effective copy solutions for clients across a broad variety of industry sectors.
Co-author of ‘Symbol’ (Laurence King, 2011), Steven was also assistant editor and researcher for ‘C/ID: visual identity and branding for the arts’ (Laurence King, 2006) and ‘Picture Book: contemporary illustration’ (Laurence King, 2006). Working with Pentagram partner Angus Hyland, he co-curated 'Ballpoint', an award-winning exhibition of work by some of the creative industry's brightest talents (The Gallery at Pentagram, 2004). A regular contributor to Grafik magazine between 2007 and 2011, he has also written for ISTD Condensed, Nico and Varoom.
