Join the 26 Tour of Literary Britain

Common Ground - Around Britian in Thirty  Writers was the book that launched our literary tour of Britian. Now, with the help of the Arts Council, we'd like to invite everyone to join in and help to write our online guide to Britain's writers and their work, famous or forgotten, current or centuries old.

The 26 website is visited and read by thousands of writers, editors and publishers every year. If you'd like to share your work with everyone who comes here to see what we're up to, this is the best place to start.

Whether you're a student, a professional writer, or someone with a passion for places, words and writers, you are welcome to add your story to the collection.

To start you thinking about what we're looking for, here are three questions to ask yourself.

  • Which writer captures the spirit of a place close to your heart?
  • How have the local landscape, people and stories influenced them?
  • And what effect has this had on you?

For the practical guidelines on how to submit your piece, click on the link above 'Join In'. The more the merrier; please send the link to everyone you know who loves writing about their home (or adopted) territory and local writers.

You don't have to join 26 to take part, but if you're interested please see our main 26 site.
